The Civil Service Bureau of Georgia was recognised as the Best Open Data Public Institution for ensuring the accessibility of public information in 2011. Initiated by Institute for Development of Freedom of Information (IDFI), the award was given within the project of public information databases.

“We constantly try to base our principles on two factors - on wide publicity and maximum transparency”, stated the Head of the Civil Service Bureau of Georgia, Irakli Kotetishvili, in response to the recognition. Since its launch over two years ago, the Civil Service Bureau’s online services have provided ongoing accessibility to public information through tailored recruitment and public officials’ asset monitoring portals.

One such initiative that has received much public interest is the online asset declaration system for senior public officials. Implemented by the Civil Service Bureau, the website enables any interested individual to easily locate and download the mandatory asset declarations submitted by senior public officials. Declarations are available for download at www.declaration.gov.ge within 48 hours after they are submitted.

Another project established by the Civil Service Bureau that has been met with positive recognition both locally and internationally is the first ever recruitment portal specifically tailored for the Georgian civil service, www.hr.gov.ge. The website, designed to make recruitment within the civil service both public and transparent, provides unbiased access to employment vacancies with features that allow users to contact prospective employers, upload required documentation and apply for positions. The website promotes public engagement and an impartial recruitment process in Georgian civil cervice.

In order to ensure civil services remain public, the Civil Service Bureau constantly carries out innovative projects and actively co-operates with various international and non-governmental organisations. The Civil Service Bureau is pleased with the Institute for Development of Freedom of Information’s recognition for its achievements and is planning to actively collaborate with this organisation in future as well.
