Civil Service Bureau of Georgia Receives Untied Nations Public Service Award
20 Jun 2013 The Public Financial Disclosure System managed by the Civil Service Bureau of Georgia recently won a prestigious UN Public Service Award in the category of ‘Preventing and combating corruption in public service’.
With almost all nations’ public institutions participating in the annual competition, this award aims to identify the most innovative projects that have achieved highly in one of the following public service categories: 1) Preventing and combating corruption in public service; 2) Improving delivery of public services; 3) Fostering participation in public policy decision making through innovative mechanisms; 4) Promoting whole-of-government approaches in the information age; 5) Promoting gender-responsive delivery of public services. The Public Financial Disclosure System has been in place in Georgia since 2010 and at its core fosters the financial accountability of senior public officials. Copies of all submitted asset declarations are published online, encouraging citizens and interested groups to closely monitor the income and expenditures of high-ranking officials. On June 27 2013, the Director of the Civil Service Bureau of Georgia, Mr Irakli Kotetishvili, will be participating in the Public Service Forum in Manama, Bahrain, where he will formally receive the award on behalf of the Civil Service Bureau.
